CIS 693 Week3

This week on ethics in information security many items were brought up , but a recurring theme was on privacy. As information security professionals we have the capability in many of our positions to violate the privacy of others without them knowing either through intentional disclosure, accidentally through day-to-day repsonsibilities, or negligence in securing systems.

Privacy violations can occur intentionally by snooping in on data traffic or documents that we have a higher privilege to. Accidentally during a troubleshooting session for example while fixing a customers computer. Negligent privacy violations could occur if a system is not updated and breached for example, or just never had the proper security controls in place in the first place.
